FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(MADISON HEIGHTS, MI) – Businesses who endure the frustration of their outbound phone calls being spoofed or blocked now have relief.
Michigan-based telecommunication provider TelNet Worldwide (www.telnetww.com) has attained an FCC-endorsed certification that helps prevent spoofing and spam blocking.
The certification ensures that phone calls placed through TelNet’s phone networks will not be spoofed, blocked or flagged as spam. For companies who depend on phone calling for sales, marketing and customer service, this assurance is a must.
“Phone spoofing is not just annoying, it is a security risk for businesses,” says TelNet president Mark Iannuzzi. “Spoofing can lead to hacks and data breaches that cost companies millions of dollars.” Spam phone calls cost businesses nearly $30 billion a year globally, according to truecaller.com
“The goal is to know who is calling you and to know that parties you call can trust it’s really you,” says Iannuzzi.
TelNet is the preferred voice provider to Michigan-based Merit Network, America’s longest-running regional research and education network, and is one of a core group of carriers to attain this compliance.
Solving a Serious Problem
The compliance is called STIR/SHAKEN. It sounds like a martini option. But the problem it solves is serious for businesses who rely on phone calling to reach customers, prospects and others.
Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to a recipient’s caller ID display to disguise the caller’s identity. Spoofers are spammers. Spoofing can lead to operational, financial and reputational damage.
The STIR/SHAKEN framework works by verifying the digital signature attached to a call. The signature includes information about the caller’s identity, such as their phone number, and is generated by the originating service provider. The signature is then verified by the receiving service provider, which ensures that it matches the call’s identity information.
As the telephony industry continues to evolve, STIR/SHAKEN compliance will become increasingly important for businesses to maintain the integrity of their telephone network and build trust with their customers.
“At TelNet, we are at the forefront of technology and network certifications to ensure our customers have the leading solutions,” says Iannuzzi.
