Team TelNet was honored to participate in this year’s Hunger Free in the D Radiothon. In partnership with News/Talk 760 WJR and the Celani Family Foundation, TelNet Worldwide provided the phone equipment and network connection to receive all incoming donations in an effort to raise funds for Capuchin Soup Kitchen and Gleaners Food Bank.
All in all, over 100 calls were received through TelNet’s voice equipment, and the campaign managed to raise nearly $190,000 toward the cause, according to Phil Garofalo, Gleaners’ communications and marketing manager. The Radiothon was held at Palazzo di Bocce in Lake Orion and was broadcast live on 760 WJR from 5:30 a.m. to noon.
Every year our Double Your Donation Days create excitement and generate a great number of donations. Our mission is tied to their success,” said Gleaners’ Senior Director of Marketing, Stacy Averill. “Gleaners relies on strong partnerships with vendors, like TelNet Worldwide, who was onsite throughout the day at our most recent event. Their work was particularly valuable as we were setting up a phone bank and computers, including related infrastructure, in a space that was new to us and that was not necessarily set up to support this sort of tech stack.”
Client Training Coordinator Will Luchin and Network Field Technician Mike Desmon were onsite throughout the event to provide setup, training and support. Through our partnership with Utility Telecom, TelNet Worldwide provided 10 phones and phone lines for the Radiothon, ensuring toll-free calls routed through our hunt-group network.
“We’d especially like to thank Utility Telecom for making TelNet Worldwide aware of this fundraising opportunity,” said TelNet’s Agent Manager, Leonard Brandenburg. “It’s another fine example of how they strive to make a difference in the community and provide superior business solutions for their customer’s technology needs.”
According to their website, the Celani Family Foundation launched the first Hunger Free in the D Campaign in November 2014 with the promise of matching every dollar donated by the public, up to $100,000. This annual, two-week campaign has raised over $1 million to help bring more than 500,000 meals to struggling families in the Detroit Metropolitan area, and TelNet Worldwide was honored to be a part of the mission this year.
